Tech Staffer Organizes Flyball Tournament for Dashing Dogs

Florence-Darlington Technical College administrative assistant LeAnn Sawyer has taken her love of dogs to a faster level.  Sawyer, who's the assistant to the associate vice-president of Technical General Education, is helping organize the second annual Palmetto Pack Flyball Tournament, Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26, 2006.

Teams of dogs will run relay races at the Florence County Fairgrounds during the weekend competition.  Sawyer will race a hound named Katie she found wandering around the College's main campus in 2004.  Sawyer rescued the homeless animal and now says, "Katie is currently the fastest dog on the team.  It is amazing how little time, effort, love and money will do."

WBTW's Cecil's World featured the Flyball Tournament during Channel 13's morning, noon and 11 p.m. news shows on Wednesday, February 22, 2006.
