FDTC Computer Technology Students Make House Call

The most recent class of Computer Technology second-year students at Florence-Darlington Technical College completed their service learning class project improving the computer network at a local non-profit agency. For the last two semesters the students have been working with the Florence Area Literacy Council to upgrade the agency's computer network.

Led by Instructor of Computer Technology Paul Anderson, the students reviewed and proposed networking solutions. They recently made a house call to the agency and installed and configured the new network.

ATE Center of Excellence Director Elaine Craft calls service learning one of the best retention strategies an instructor can use, because it makes learning very relevant.
