Associate in Science Degree

Health and Sciences Division

General Description | Semester Layout  | Course Requirements | Printable Checklist

Mission

To provide science instruction in biology, chemistry, and physics to enable students to complete their respective curricular programs or to transfer college credits through the Associate of Science degree program, and to provide specialized training to meet the workplace requirements of local business and industry.

Description

This program prepares the student to transfer courses and the degree in its entirety to a four-year senior college. The degree stresses the natural sciences, mathematics, communications, the social sciences and humanities. Entrance requirements for transfer students vary widely among senior colleges and universities. Transfer of credits is a privilege granted by the institution to which the student plans to transfer, and all applicants and requests for transfer of credits are evaluated individually. Each student must complete courses with grades acceptable to the college to which the student seeks to transfer. Thus, it is strongly recommended that a student discuss transferring to a four-year institution with a representative of that institution early in the studentís academic career at Florence-Darlington Technical College. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of each student, with the assistance of a counselor or academic advisor, to plan his/her program of study to meet the requirements of the college to which the student expects to transfer.
