Types of Financial Aid

Federal Work-Study

Facts:  Requirements:
  • Provides part-time employment on the main campus and off-campus sites
  • Provides assistance with a portion of educational expenses
  • Provides approximately 20 hours/week of work at $7.75/hour
  • Students work at various campus locations including the Bookstore, the Business Office, Computer Services, Admissions and Financial Aid
  • Students may also work at off campus locations at community agencies
  • Work study schedules are arranged around student class schedules
Students must:
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Complete FDTC Financial Aid file
  • Enroll in an eligible program of study
  • Enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Make Satisfactory Academic Progress based on the FDTC Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards listed below
  • Have sufficient need for the FWS position based on Financial Aid budget and funds awarded to student
  • Have sufficient skills for the FWS job
  • Meet the qualifications for the FWS job
  • Not be in default of a loan

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP):

The following three rules constitute satisfactory academic progress:

    1. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
    2. Complete a minimum of 70% of the courses attempted
    3. Complete your academic program within 150% of the required credits

After you received the e-mail containing information on how to apply, click here to view current work-study job openings.

Once you have selected a position for which you want to apply, click here to apply.  Complete the application form and submit.

The FWS Supervisor will review your application information and contact you to set up an interview.  Be prepared to discuss your class schedule for the current semester, your job skills and qualifications with the FWS Supervisor.

If you meet all qualifications and if you are hired, the FWS Supervisor will give you a packet of paperwork to be completed.  You will also receive a copy of the FWS Student Manual.

After all forms have been completed, you will give the packet to the FWS Program Coordinator.

The FWS Program Coordinator will then prepare a contract for your signature and contact you with a date and time to complete the process.
