South Carolina Need-Based Grants

Facts: Requirements:
A student must...
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be a SC resident.
  • Hold a SC High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Be enrolled at least 6 credit hours in an eligible program.  (If not enrolled at least 6 credit hours, award will be cancelled.)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Complete all required hours.
  • NOT have an Associates or Bachelors degree.
  • NOT have a criminal record or drug-related conviction.
  • Sign the SCNBG certification form.
  • Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
How To Apply
  • Apply to the college and be admitted to an eligible program of study.
  • Complete the FAFSA form.
  • If you are applying for the Fall 2014, Spring 2015 or Summer 2015 semester, complete the 2014-15 FAFSA. If you are applying for the Fall 2015, Spring 2016 or Summer 2016 semester, complete the 2015-16 FAFSA.
  • If awarded the SCNBG, you must sign a certification form.
  • If you are a continuing student and received the SCNBG the previous school year, you must have a 2.0 GPA and successfully completed the required hours.
