Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federally funded grant program that offers a variety of services to job seekers and employers. Florence-Darlington Technical College provides the Adult
and Dislocated Worker Intensive Services component of the Workforce Investment Act for upper Florence County and is located at the Florence One Stop Workforce Center.
Under WIA, job search/job placement assistance is offered through Core Services - a self-directed approach or through Intensive Services - a case managed approach. Eligible participants who have been unsuccessful in locating suitable employment through the use of Core and Intensive Services may be recommended for Training Services to receive financial assistance for a variety of types of skill training. WIA funded participants may also be eligible to receive assistance with childcare and transportation expenses.
