At FDTC, your success is our goal. We want you to accomplish your educational, as well as your personal goals. The College provides an array of student support services to assist and guide you on your road to success.
The Admissions Office is located in the 100 Building in Room 100 and the phone number is 843.661.8289. The Admissions Office provides Personal, Career and Academic Counseling, and hosts workshops on various topics throughout the semester such as study skills and time management.
Financial Aid Office
The Financial Aid Office serves as your resource to pay for your college education. In addition to helping you to apply for the large amount of federal grants available, FDTC's Financial Aid Office processes state funds as well, including the SC Lottery Tuition Assistance Grant and the SC Life Scholarship and Need Based Grants. Money should never be the reason that you can't attend college.
The Assessment Center offers a wide variety of services including administration of the placement tests and proctoring services for students enrolled in distance learning classes and other specialized college programs. The office is located in the 100 Building in Room 112.
At the Registrar's Office, you can request to have your transcripts mailed to another college or a prospective employer. This office can also provide you with enrollment verification for health insurance or other purposes. The Registrar's Office is the location for all student records and changes of name, address or telephone number can be handled at the Registrar's Office or online.
The Student Activities Center
The Student Activities Center, located on the first floor of the 5000 Building, provides facilities for activities as well as space for the administrative office of Student Activities, the Athletic Director and the Student Government Association. Getting involved in activities outside of class is a great way to make friends and feel more connected to the college. These extracurricular events may also provide opportunities to support the local community, develop leadership skills and cultivate contacts that can assist in future job seeking activities. All students are invited to become involved in the activities at FDTC and to avail themselves of the services and opportunities at the College.
FDTC TRIO Programs
The FDTC TRIO Programs are federal grant programs designed to provide academic support and cultural outreach experiences for both high school and college students. The programs provide extra support to ensure the success first generation, low income and/or disabled students. Florence-Darlington Technical College has two TRiO grant programs: Student Support Services for college students and Upward Bound for high school students hoping to attend college.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federally funded grant program that offers a variety of services to job seekers and employers. FDTC provides Adult and Dislocated Worker Intensive Services for upper Florence County. These services are located at the Florence One Stop Workforce Center at 1558 West Evans Street.
FDTC's Child Development Center
Child Care is available on campus. FDTC's Child Development Center is located in the 900 Building at the rear of the campus. The Center offers childcare services to the children of FDTC students, faculty and staff, serving children between the ages 2 and 12. FDTC students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours to take advantage of this service. For those who are not eligible for free services, fees are assessed by the week, day, or hour. Childcare services are also available in the evening from 5:00pm - 11:00pm.
The Head Start Program, also located in the Child Development Center, is for children ages 3 - 4. Eligibility for Head Start is based on income guidelines. For more information on the Head Start Program, call 843.676.8520 or 843.676.8522.
The Lamplighter Bookstore
College Bookstore: The Lamplighter Bookstore, located on the first floor of the 5000 Building, offers students everything needed in the way of required textbooks and school supplies. Also offered for sale is an assortment of popular items such as candy, greeting cards, and computer accessories.
The Bookstore accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover as well as personal checks (for the amount of purchase) with proper identification.
