Electrical Energy Usage

Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) is proud to be a good steward of our planet’s natural resources and environment. To that end, we strive to minimize our electrical energy consumption, while also conserving the precious dollars needed to run our institution. FDTC is in compliance with the state’s energy conservation goals as stated in the South Carolina Code of Laws SECTION 48-52-620(A)(1). The college achieved the target goal “of reducing energy consumption for buildings in use on July 1, 2008, by twenty percent by July 1, 2020, relative to year 2000 levels”, and did it four years ahead of schedule in 2016. As a result, FDTC received the Energy Reduction Milestone Achievement Award from the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff on October 27, 2016.  We are pleased to present the following graph, which illustrates the total electrical energy usage of all our campuses for the previous twelve months.

Energy saving suggestions:

  1. Turn off lights when leaving office or classrooms
  2. Unplug unnecessary items
  3. Turn off computer monitors when not using
  4. Close window blinds in the evening and weekends
  5. Take the stairs when possible
  6. Save documents electronically rather than printing on paper
