Admissions Policy
Florence-Darlington Technical College will accept any student meeting the basic admission requirements without regard to race, sex, religion, or national origin, ensuring compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
General Entrance Requirements
Florence-Darlington Technical College operates as an open admission college as required by the 1976 Code of Laws of South Carolina, as amended. Consistent with statutory requirements and existing policies, Florence-Darlington Technical College makes every effort to minimize geographic, financial, and scholastic barriers to the post-secondary programs and services offered. A high school diploma or GED, through desirable, is not a prerequisite for college admission, but may be required for specific program admission.
Applicants for admission to Florence-Darlington Technical College must be 18 years of age or older, or possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Under certain circumstances, an applicant under the age of 18 who has not graduated from high school may be considered for enrollment through special agreement between the College and the principal and/or district administrator of the school where the applicant has been, or is attending. In the case of an applicant from a home school, the agreement must be between the College and a district administrator from the school district and or an authorized education agency that has jurisdiction over the home school.
All programs offered by Florence-Darlington Technical College are offered on a continuing basis, to admit students at the beginning of each semester, unless otherwise specified, and to be able to assimilate the number of entering students by providing specific procedures and guidelines for their admissions process.
