FDTC's Foundation Establishes New Scholarships

400 Building

The Florence-Darlington Technical College Educational Foundation has established six new scholarships for its students.

The Foundation is always looking for new scholarships to benefit hard working students. Its mission is to provide comprehensive technical education, workforce development and educational services to students, as well as local business and industry.

“We are so thankful for these six generous donations,” said Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Jill Lewis. “Without their help and the help of others, who have selflessly donated to the Foundation, we wouldn’t be able to carry out our mission as effectively. So many students will benefit from the scholarships.”

The Randell E. McClain Memorial Scholarship will benefit Electronic Technician students who are in their second year and have a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher. The students who qualify for the scholarship will also need to exhibit financial need. The scholarship was given by Dale and Randi Wolf.

For students in the Nursing Program, William and Kathleen Claxton have made a contribution to the Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) General Scholarship Fund in memory of Dixie Jo Price. Eligible students must be enrolled into the program full-time, and they also must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and exhibit financial need. Each recipient will be selected by the Scholarship Committee.

Thanks to Corrow Construction, LLC, the Corrow Construction Scholarship has been established for first and second year students with a 2.5 GPA or higher.

The board of directors of the Marion County Healthcare Foundation is offering two $2,000 scholarships each year to graduating high school students from Marion County, who plan to attend Florence-Darlington Technical College. The students must reside in Marion County, have at least a 2.5 GPA and exhibit financial need. The scholarships would be renewable for three additional years as long as the students maintain the minimum GPA requirements.

The Bernie F. Schweikart PTA Scholarship given by Jeff Davis, will be awarded annually to a student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher with financial need.

In memory of former FDTC County Commission for Technical Education member, Mary G. Langston, the Mary G. Langston Scholarship has been given to the Foundation.
