Lady Stingers Extend Winning Streak To 10 Games

FLORENCE, S.C. (February 26, 2018) – At Old Cormell Field, the Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers defeated Patrick Henry in a doubleheader on Friday and Richard Bland in a doubleheader on Saturday to increase their winning streak to 10 games in a row.

The Lady Stingers dominated the first game against Patrick Henry on Friday, winning 12-1 in five innings. Marissa Tyndall was the winning pitcher. She only allowed two hits, while she also struck out two batters and walked two more.

Auh’Kieria Smilling was the leading hitter. She was 3-3 with two homeruns and five runs batted in. Shelby Cox was 3-4 with a homerun and two runs batted in.

During the second game on Friday, the Lady Stingers beat Patrick Henry 13-9 in seven innings. Once again, Tyndall was the winning pitcher on the mound with three strikeouts, six hits and three walks allowed.

Auh’Kieria kept her bat swinging as she led the way for the Stingers in the batter’s box in the second game. Auh’Kieria was 2-3 with a walk, a homerun and four runs batted in. Brittany Wenzl was 3-5 with three runs batted in and two doubles.

On Saturday, the Stingers won 7-2 in seven innings as they hosted Richard Bland. Tyndall won on the mound as she struck out five batters and only allowed four hits.

Catcher Erin Bailey led the team in batting. She was 1-3 with a homerun and two runs batted in. Riley Boyle was 2-3, and Hanna Gainey was 1-2 with two runs batted in and a walk.

A dominating performance gave the Lady Stingers the 12-3 win over Richard Bland during the second game in just five innings. Tyndall completed the weekend sweep, winning on the mound for the fourth consecutive game with four strikeouts and only allowing four hits and two walks.

Boyle was 2-4 in the batter’s box with two runs batted in. Tori Alexander was 2-3 at the plate with a run batted in.

The Lady Stingers are now 6-0 in their region with an overall winning record of 12-4.

On Friday, March 2, the Lady Stingers will begin competing in the FP Dreams College Spring Tournament at the North Myrtle Beach Complex. The Lady Stingers will play Olney Central at 3 p.m. and SUNY-Delhi at 4 p.m. on Friday. At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, the Lady Stingers will play Garrett, and at 12:30 p.m., their tournament efforts will conclude after playing Olney Central.
