Lady Stingers Fall in Region X Championship Game

BURLINGTON, N.C. (May 10, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers lost 7-1 to Louisburg in the Region X Championship game on Friday at Springwood Park.

The Lady Stingers kicked off the day by losing 4-1 to Louisburg, but the team rallied back to beat Pitt Community College 4-1 to advance to the tournament’s championship game.

In the championship matchup, Louisburg struck first by scoring three runs in the first inning. The Lady Stingers’ only run came in the second inning, when Jada Parsons scored on a passed ball. Louisburg went on to solidify the victory by scoring a run in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning.

Courtney Watson suffered the loss on the mound. She pitched for six innings, striking out three batters. Louisburg accumulated 13 hits and seven runs throughout the game.

Jada Parsons led the way at the plate for the Lady Stingers as she was 2-for-3 with a run. Watson had a hit in the game as well.

The Lady Stingers concluded the 2019 season with an overall record of 28-10.
