FLORENCE, S.C. (February 4, 2019) – The No. 17 nationally ranked Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers fell 3-2 and 9-5 at home to USC Sumter on Saturday afternoon.
Jada Parsons started on the mound in the first game of the 2019 season for the Lady Stingers. She pitched for five innings, striking out three players and allowing two walks and six hits. Courtney Watson finished the game allowing only a hit. Lillie Baumbach was 2-3 at the plate with two doubles. Tori Alexander was 1-2 in the batter’s box. The Lady Stingers lost 3-2 to USC Sumter.
Courtney stayed on the mound to begin the second game of the day. She pitched for five innings, allowing eight hits and two walks. Jenna Winningham finished Game No. 2 on the mound in the 9-5 loss. She struck out two batters, walked a batter and only allowed a hit. Alexander was 2-4 with an RBI. Kristina Lee was 2-4 at the plate.
On Friday, February 8, the Lady Stingers will travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on Methodist University. The doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the second game at 5 p.m.
The team will stay on the road on Saturday, February 9 as they travel to Sumter, South Carolina to play USC Sumter at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
