FLORENCE, S.C. (April 23, 2018) – The No. 9 nationally ranked Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers finished out the 2018 regular season first in Region 10 on Friday. The Lady Stingers beat region rival, Pitt Community College 10-9 on the road in the first game of the doubleheader and then lost 6-5.
During the first game on Friday, the Lady Stingers won 10-9 in extra innings. It took 10 innings for the game to come to a conclusion. Pitcher, Marissa Tyndall won on the mound, but she also batted in the game-winning run in the 10th inning with a single. Tyndall was 2-for-6 with three RBI at the plate, and on the mound, she struck out 12 batters and only allowed five walks and 12 hits.
Shelby Cox was 4-for-6 at the plate. Kristina Lee was 2-for-4 with a solo homerun, a double and three RBI. Lee was also walked and hit by a pitch.
In the second game of the double header, the Lady Stingers lost 6-5 in seven innings. Tyndall lost on the mound. Tori Alexander started the game on the mound and her and Tyndall alternated the workload each inning. Combined, they only allowed four hits and a walk.
Alexander was 2-for-3 at the plate. Riley Boyle was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
The Lady Stinger finished out the regular season 34-7 overall and 25-2 in Region 10.
