
FLORENCE, S.C. (April 15, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers split games with Surry Community College in North Carolina, winning 6-5 and losing 8-3 on Friday.
Courtney Watson was the winning pitcher in the opening game on Friday. Watson pitched all seven innings as she struck out six batters. She also walked three batters and gave up seven hits. Jada Parsons led the way at the plate as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a homerun. Kistina Lee went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Watson suffered the loss on the mound in the second matchup. She gave up four runs. Parsons, Tori Alexander and Jenna Winningham pitched in relief. Anna Michael went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Jaylah McCormick went 1-for-3 with a home run.
The Lady Stingers are 19-7 overall and 10-4 in Region 10.
On Friday and Saturday, April 19-20, the Lady Stingers will host Patrick Henry at Old Cormell Field in a four-game series. Both doubleheaders will get underway at 1 p.m. each day.
