
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (March 23, 2019) – Coming off a dominate performance in the Fastpitch Dreams Tournament in Myrtle Beach, the Lady Stingers kept the momentum rolling as they swept Fayetteville Tech on the road, 15-4 on Friday and 13-8 and 14-2 on Saturday.
On Friday, Courtney Watson was the winning pitcher on the mound. She struck out four players, walked a player and only allowed two hits and two runs in the 15-4 victory. Jenna Winningham closed the game for the Lady Stingers. Winningham allowed a hit, a walk and two runs. Kristina Lee led the way at the plate as she was 3-for-4 with a two-run homerun, a triple and three RBI. Jaylah McCormick was 2-for-3 with two homeruns and five RBI.
Watson earned her second win of the weekend in Saturday’s opening game. She struck out seven batters and only walked one as the Lady Stingers went on to win 13-8. Lillie Baumbach went 5-for-5 with two RBI. Baylee Elms went 3-for-4 with a solo homerun and three RBI.
In the final game on Saturday, Watson captured her third win of the series. In the 14-2 victory, Watson struck out four batters and allowed four hits and four walks. Once again, Winningham finished out the game, allowing a hit and a walk. Jada Parsons was 3-for-4 in the batter’s box. She knocked a two-run homerun and accumulated a double and a single. Winningham was 3-for-4 with a two-run homerun.
The Lady Stingers are now on a five-game winning streak as they extend their record to 16-6.
Up next on the schedule for the Lady Stingers is a three-game series as they host Wake Tech at Old Cormell Field. On Friday, March 29, the game will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday’s doubleheader will get underway at 11 a.m.
