Lady Stingers Sweep to Finish Regular Season 25-8

FLORENCE, S.C. (May 6, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers swept Bryant & Stratton 9-2, 10-2 and 4-2 to end the regular season with an overall record of 25-8.

On Thursday, the Lady Stingers won 9-2. Courtney Watson won on the mound, striking out eight batters and only allowing six hits, three walks and two runs.

Lillie Baumbach led the way at the plate as she was 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Berkliegh Mezzanotte was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a double. Watson was 2-for-3 with a double. Jada Parsons hit two homeruns.

Game No. 2 of the matchup kicked off a doubleheader on Saturday. The Lady Stingers won 10-2 as Watson picked up her second victory of the series on the mound. In three innings, Watson struck out two batters and only allowed two hits. Jenna Winningham and Tori Alexander finished out the game. Combined, Winningham and Alexander only allowed two runs, two hits and two walks.

Baumbach was 3-for-4 with a homerun. Brittany Miller, Watson and Alexander singled as well.

Jaylah McCormick hit a seventh inning walk-off grand slam to win the game 4-2 for the Lady Stingers in the third game of the series.

Watson completed the series sweep by winning her third game on the mound. Watson entered the game in relief for starting pitcher Tori Alexander. Watson struck out three batters and allowed one hit. Alexander struck out two batters and allowed two walks and two runs.

On Thursday, May 9, the No. 4 seeded Lady Stingers will take on No. 5 seeded Surry in the Region 10 Tournament in Burlington, North Carolina at 12 p.m.
