
FLORENCE, S.C. (April 1, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers swept Wake Tech 11-7, 11-7 and 16-0 in a three-game series at Old Cormell Field on Friday and Saturday.
In the 11-7 win on Friday, Jada Parsons earned the victory on the mound by striking out two batters and only allowing two walks, three hits and three runs. Jenna Winningham closed the game. Winningham allowed two hits, two walks and four hits. Parsons also had great day at the plate batting. Parsons went 3-for-3 with a walk and a homerun. Jaylah McCormick went 4-for-4 with two walks.
The Lady Stingers opened Saturday with another 11-7 win over Wake Tech. Tori Alexander was the winning pitcher on the mound. She struck out two batters and allowed three hits and five runs. Baylee Elms led the way at the plate as she went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Kaylee McMillan went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.
On Saturday in the second game, the Lady Stingers shutout Walk Tech, 16-0 to sweep the weekend. Parsons earned her second win of the series by striking out a batter and allowing no hits or walks. Winningham closed out the game allowing only two walks and no hits. At the plate, Parsons led the way as she went 3-for-4 with a triple, a sacrifice and three RBI. McCormick went 2-for-2 with a homerun and two RBI. Lillie Baumbach went 3-for-3 with a walk.
The Lady Stingers extend their winning streak to eight games with the weekend sweep. The team is 18-6 overall and 9-3 in Region 10.
On Friday and Saturday, April 12-13, the Lady Stingers will travel to Surry for a three-game series. Friday’s doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m., and Saturday’s game will get underway at 12 p.m.
