Coming off a four-game winning streak, the Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers continued their success by beating Southeastern Community College in a doubleheader in Whiteville, North Carolina on Friday.
The softball team won the first game of the doubleheader 4-3. Marissa Tyndall was the winning pitcher. She was on the mound for seven innings. Tyndall struck out five batters throughout the game and only allowed four hits and four walks.
Kristina Lee led the team in batting during the first game on Friday. She was 3-4 and earned one run batted in. Shelby Cox was 2-4, and she also had one run batted in.
In the second game, the Lady Stingers dominated to win 15-5. Tori Alexander was the winning pitcher as she struck out three batters in six innings. Alexander was relieved by Tyndall, who pitched for two innings.
Once again, it was Lee and Cox leading the team in the batter’s box at the plate. Both, Lee and Cox were 3-5 and earned three runs batted in each.
The Lady Stingers will host their first home games this upcoming weekend. On Friday, February 23, the Lady Stingers will play Patrick Henry in a doubleheader at Old Cormell Field. The first game is currently scheduled for 1 p.m., while the second game will begin at roughly 3 p.m. On Saturday, February 24, Richard Bland will visit Old Cormell Field for a doubleheader. Game times for Saturday are roughly 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
