On Wednesday, April 17, from 5-7pm, the third annual P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge (Promoting Entrepreneurial Education, Developing Effective Entrepreneurs) will take place at The Edition in Hartsville. The P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge is a collaboration between Francis Marion University, Coker College, and Florence-Darlington Technical College, and is made possible by generous grants from The Clouse-Elrod Foundation and Wells Fargo.
When the P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge started in 2017, 14 teams (totaling 31 students) entered and, last year, the number of entries nearly doubled to 27 teams (totaling 47 students). This year’s competition boasts an increase in total cash prizes of $7,500, up from $5,000 during the previous two years.
The competition is open to all current students at Francis Marion University, Coker College, and Florence-Darlington Technical College during the Spring 2019 semester. Teams are limited to 1-5 student members. Up to 10 semifinalist teams will compete on April 17; they’re tasked with developing and pitching a new business idea to a panel of local business leaders for a chance to win $7,500 in cash prizes.
The goal of the P.E.E. D.E.E. Idea Challenge is to encourage innovation through collaboration and competition.
