
FLORENCE, S.C. (April 19, 2018) – On Wednesday, the Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers traveled to North Carolina and defeated Brunswick 7-4 to win their sixth consecutive game.
Rafi Vazquez earned the win in relief, while Sumter’s Tradd James earned the save. Vazquez faced five batters as he threw 20 strikes. James faced six batters and threw 19 strikes.
Tanner Mann was 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI. Josh Gregory and Latta’s Jackson Williams had two hits, including a homerun. Conway’s Reid Hardwick and Summerville’s Gabe Austin added a homerun.
Brunswick hit the scoreboard early on Wednesday as the team earned three runs in the first inning, but the Tech Stingers answered back with two runs in the second inning and a run in the third inning. Brunswick’s final run of the game came in the third as the Tech Stingers held them scoreless for the remainder of the matchup. The Tech Stingers and added two runs in the seventh and ninth innings.
The Tech Stingers are 36-11 overall and 15-3 in Region 10.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, the Tech Stingers will travel to Allendale, South Carolina to play Region 10 rival, USC Salkehatchie at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on both days. The Stingers enter the weekend looking to clinch the Region 10 regular season championship.
