
FLORENCE, S.C. (March 29, 2018) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers defeated Guilford Tech 12-9 in Greensboro, North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.
Duncan Callahan of Hamer, South Carolina won the game in relief, his first victory of the season. Callahan pitched for one inning, striking out two players. Greenville’s Connor Campbell earned the save.
During the game, the Tech Stingers scored four runs in the second inning, two runs in both, the fourth and fifth innings and four runs in the seventh inning. In 39 at bats, the team had a total of 10 hits, 8 bases on balls and 11 runs batted in.
Adam Spurlin led the Tech Stingers at the plate, as he was 4-5 with a homerun in the fourth and seventh innings. Spurlin batted in five runs throughout the game. Michael Elijah added a two-run homerun in the fifth inning as well.
The Tech Stingers are 25-10 overall. They will host Region 10 rival, Spartanburg Methodist in a doubleheader on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 at Old Cormell Field. On both days, games will begin at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
