
LEXINGTON, S.C. (May 6, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers suffered their first loss of the 2019 Region X Tournament on Sunday night when they fell to No. 1 seed Spartanburg Methodist 10-5.
The Tech Stingers struck first in the top of the fourth by scoring a run, but Spartanburg Methodist tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth, the Tech Stingers scored four runs but were surpassed by Spartanburg Methodist’s nine runs by the time the game reached the end of the inning.
Boyce Kobleur suffered the loss on the mound. Over the course of 5.1 innings, Kobleur struck out six batters. Nine hits and six runs crossed the plate while Kobleur was on the mound.
Throughout the game, the Tech Stingers had 10 hits. Ryan Moore and Cameron Dean were each 2-for-2 with a RBI and a run. Grant Bodison, Mark Engel, Alex Stennett, Danny Grillo and Hunter Baker had a hit as well.
The Tech Stingers who are now 42-12 this season, will play to stay alive in the tournament at 4:30 p.m. today in Lexington, S.C.
