
FLORENCE, S.C. (March 15, 2018) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers traveled to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday to play Mercer County and County College of Morris in the Ripken Experience.
During the first game of the day, the Stingers lost to Mercer County 4-2. Sumter’s Tradd James suffered the loss on the mound. James pitched for 3.2 innings, striking out three batters and allowing seven hits and four runs.
Michael Elijah and Adam Spurlin were 2-3 at the plate. Rafi Vazquez batted in the Stingers’ two runs. One run was scored in the first inning, while the second run was batted in during the third inning.
Despite the loss in the first game, the Tech Stingers beat County College of Morris 7-4 in the second game on Wednesday. Tyler Kissinger earned the win in relief. Kissinger pitched for three inning, striking out six batter and only allowing two hits.
Dax Roper and Dante Blakeney both hit three-run homeruns in the fifth inning.
The Tech Stingers are now 18-8 overall.
This weekend, the team will travel to Union, South Carolina to play Region X opponent, USC Union. The series will be the Tech Stingers’ first Region X games of the 2018 season. The team will play USC Union at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 and on Sunday, March 18.
