
HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (April 25, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers finished out the 2019 regular season 39-12 on Wednesday with an 8-5 road win over Wake Tech.
The first inning of the game saw many runs cross the plate. The Tech Stingers opened the game with five runs, but Wake Tech tacked on two. By the end of the third inning, the Tech Stingers led 6-5. No more runs were scored in the game until the Tech Stingers added two to the scoreboard in the top of the ninth. Nathan Barolet cleared the loaded bases in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save and solidify the win for the Tech Stingers.
Peyton Evans earned the win on the mound as he pitched for 2.1 innings. Evans struck out three batters, walked a batter and allowed one hit and a run. Will Abbott, Daniel Rutherford and Boyce Kobleur also saw time on the mound.
Ryan Moore, Edward Landron, Michael Elijah and Cameron Dean accounted for the Tech Stingers’ four hits throughout the game.
Up next for the Tech Stingers is the Region X Tournament in Lexington, SC that will begin on Friday, May 3. The Tech Stingers will take on USC Salkehatchie.
