
FLORENCE, S.C. (February 25, 2019) – The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers lost 4-2 to Potomac State in the USC Sumter Tournament on Saturday.
Potomac State took the lead in the first inning, but the Stingers tied the ballgame 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth inning, Potomac State scored three runs, and the Stingers were only able to answer back with a run in the seventh.
Zac Branham suffered the lost on the mound. He pitched for six of the seven innings, striking out four batters and allowing two earned runs and four hits.
Patrick Baggett led the Tech Stingers at the plate by going 1-for-2. Cameron Dean and Alex Stennett each had a run.
The Tech Stingers were scheduled to play Potomac State and Walters State on Sunday, but weather forced the two games to be cancelled.
Through 13 games this season, the Tech Stingers are 9-4.
The Tech Stingers will play the Francis Marion University JV team in a doubleheader at Sparrow Stadium on Tuesday, February 26. Games will begin at 4:30 p.m.
