
FLORENCE, S.C. (Oct. 2, 2018) - South Carolina Technical College System President Tim Hardee is bicycling to all 16 technical colleges in the Palmetto State in a fund raising effort for scholarships called Tour de Tech. Florence-Darlington Technical College is one of his stops. Dr. Hardee is scheduled to wheel into FDTC on Thursday, October 11 at 1 p.m.
Hardee is an avid cyclist and began the 12-day, 800-mile Tour de Tech on Thursday, September 27 with a ride to York Tech in Rock Hill. When he arrives at FDTC on October 11, Dr. Hardee will have one last leg to complete on October 12 with a visit to Horry Georgetown Technical College in Conway.
Tour de Tech’s mission is to raise money for scholarships through the SC Technical College System Foundation. A local donor will present Dr. Hardee a check at the FDTC stop of the tour. Some 80,000 students are enrolled statewide in the SC Technical College System and FDTC has nearly 6,000 students taking classes at its campuses.
FDTC students and college leaders will welcome Dr. Hardee and the Tour de Tech on Thursday, October 11 in the main campus’ AA parking lot at 1 p.m.
