A Note from the Desk of that Big English Nerd:
Congratulations on being accepted into the RUSH Program. As part of your membership, you get a lot of cool stuff, one of which is the ELA Hub! As the Coach of the ELA Hub, I provide one-on-one and group tutoring as well as various seminars and workshops. I know my last name is a bit of a doozy, so feel free to call me either Ms. Mariah or Ms. S.
If you ever need any help with your English or Reading courses, I am more than willing to help.
“Ms. S, this story is confusing me. Can you explain it?”
“How do I form a thesis statement?”
“I don’t understand why I keep missing the main ideas of stories. Can you help?”
“What’s the difference between affect and effect?”
“Can you tell me why Shakespeare has 24 mentions of birds in Macbeth?” Yes to all of these, and absolutely yes to the last one (Macbeth is my favorite Shakespeare play). I want you to understand: no question is too small, and there is no such thing as a “stupid” question. The Reading Hub is a judgment-free zone, so please don’t hesitate to email, call, or just drop by my office (contact information below) with any questions you have.
I look forward to hearing from you!
