Student Ambassador Program

Position Description

Student ambassadors serve in a leadership capacity and also assist with a variety of activities as well as fundraising projects and with hosting special events.

Application Requirements and Selection Criteria

Applicants must be full-time students at FDTC with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and enrolled at Florence-Darlington Technical College both the Fall and Spring Semesters of the academic year for which they are applying to serve. Applicants must also demonstrate an interest in working with new students from a variety of backgrounds (skills in human relations helpful) and willingness to accept responsibility for and commit to these students and this program's objectives. Student leaders are selected on the basis of previous work experience, knowledge of FDTC, demonstrated people skills, leadership, and scholarship. Additionally, students should possess a warm and friendly manner, sincerity, patience, flexibility, dependability, and maturity of judgment, enthusiasm, punctuality, and a willingness to follow a prescribed set of rules.

As a representative of Florence-Darlington Technical College, ambassadors will be required to represent all aspects of campus life objectively. They must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, in keeping with college policies. Application & Interview Process

Applications and recommendations are accepted throughout the year. These should be submitted to the Office of Student Activities, First Floor of the 5000 Building. Click Student Ambassador Scholarship Program Application Form to complete the online version.

Applicants will be notified of approval and service hours.

Training Sessions, Time Commitments, and Responsibilities

Ambassador training will be ongoing.  Ambassadors will be involved in all registrations when needed as well as other activities planned for new freshmen and transfer students in the spring, summer and fall. 

All Student Ambassador training sessions will aim to prepare the ambassadors to serve as resource experts, tour guides, and group leaders to new students and guests on campus.

Ambassadors will also be required to conduct campus tours for prospective students, groups, community members and dignitaries on an as-needed basis.
