Overview

The Essentials of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (Certificate) is a program that provides students with the basic knowledge of installing and maintaining heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. The state-of-the-art labs are equipped with a diverse offering of different HVAC and refrigeration equipment to help the students achieve success.  The program is reviewed by an HVAC advisory committee in the Pee Dee region. After completion of the certificate, students have the option to continue on with the degree.

  • Day classes at the Main Campus will take 1 year (2 semesters)
  • Day classes at The Continuum in Lake City will take 2 years (4 semesters) *This option will also benefit high school students who wish to take dual enrollment classes while still in high school.

PROGRAM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
• RWR 032 or equivalent test scores

In the Real World

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) technicians have the knowledge and skills in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that control the temperature and air quality in residential and commercial structures.

Learning Goals/Objectives

Graduates will:
• Apply knowledge of installing air conditioning system.
• Demonstrate how to read electrical diagrams and diagnose electrical circuits.
• Demonstrate how to read temperature/pressure charts and diagnose problems within the system.
• Apply knowledge of the air conditioning system to repair problems.
