51-02 Admissions with Advanced Standing
Procedure Description
Procedure
Transfer of credits from an accredited secondary institution can place a student in advanced standing at Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC). This decision will be determined by the Registrar.
Students attending a vocational high school and specializing in a field for 2 or 3 years will be given an opportunity to have their high school work evaluated and transferred to FDTC for advanced standing, if they plan to continue their field of training at FDTC. Agreements with many area vocational schools allow selected students to enter FDTC with advanced standing. Approved articulation agreements are listed in the College Catalog.
Students should contact their high school counselor to complete the required paperwork for advanced standing through articulation.
Any student completing special training in military service may have their work evaluated for advanced standing, for possible transfer, by the Registrar.
Transfer of credits within one college, i.e., from one curriculum to another, is granted by the Registrar.
Proficiency tests are given to award students college credit for formal and informal educational experiences. A student must pay a testing fee for the exam and a proctoring fee to either the Business Office or Testing Center to proctor the exam. The student should contact the department chair of the curriculum office at the time of enrollment in which he/she seeks credit. CLEP (College Level Exam Program) credit is also accepted. Students should contact the Registrar for more information.
