41-19 Dental Hygiene Clinical Services
Procedure Description
I. PURPOSE
The following guidelines will govern dental hygiene clinic services available to faculty and staff of Florence-Darlington Technical College.
II. PROCEDURE
Faculty, staff, and individuals from the local community may utilize the services of the dental hygiene clinic.
Services include intra- and extra-oral assessments, oral prophylaxis, radiographs, occlusal sealants, fluoride treatment, oral cancer screenings, and patient education. Services are performed by dental hygiene students under the supervision of a licensed Dentist and Dental Hygienist.
Sufficient time should be allowed for completion of services. It may be necessary that a patient return for more than one appointment if warranted by the oral conditions. If this is a necessity, it is requested that such appointments be scheduled and honored. Failure to do so jeopardizes the student's ability to complete clinic requirements.
Appointments for clinic services may be made by calling the clinic. Forty-eight hours notice is requested if an appointment must be canceled in order to give the student adequate time to secure another patient. Faculty are also asked to make their students aware of the availability of these services.
