41-27 Independent Study

Procedure Description

PURPOSE

To promote the success of students in Independent Study courses, the following requirements are established:

PROCEDURE

An Independent Study course will be offered in exceptional cases to students who require additional courses for graduation. A full-time faculty member will supervise the Independent Study course.

1. All students must have at least a 2.7 GPA to enroll in an Independent Study course.

2. Students will not be allowed to take more than two (2) Independent Study courses during a term.

3. Transitional Studies students will not be allowed to take courses through Independent Study.

4. Students may not take required General Education Courses through Independent Study.

5. Students attending through Veterans Educational programs will not be reimbursed for Independent Study courses. Their participation must be in a classroom session.

Exceptions to these requirements can be authorized only by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
