Florence, SC — Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) proudly announces the appointment of Clint Moore as the new Chairperson of the FDTC Area Commission, the governing body responsible for guiding the college’s strategic direction and growth.

Moore currently serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Florence, overseeing Planning, Research, and Development Services. In this role, he leads departments within Development Services and manages special projects that impact the city’s growth and infrastructure.

He brings a strong educational background to the position, holding Bachelor of Science degrees in Construction Management and Town, City, and Regional Planning from Appalachian State University, as well as a Master of Landscape Architecture from North Carolina State University. Prior to his work in Florence, Moore was with a landscape architecture and land planning firm in Asheville, North Carolina.

Moore succeeds Dr. Ershela Sims, who has served as chairperson for the past two years. The board generally rotates the Chair position every two years.

“It is an honor to be named chairman of the Area Commission, and I look forward to supporting the leadership of Florence-Darlington Technical College and their efforts in its growth and development,” Moore said. “FDTC is playing a vital role in our regional communities now more than ever with our education of the future workforce. It is our job to create an environment in which our students can thrive and carry that into their employment. I am excited about the upcoming planned improvements that we will continue to meet our goal to be ‘real world ready’ and build upon our current successes.”

Moore has been with the City of Florence for eleven years and is deeply committed to serving the Pee Dee region.

FDTC President Dr. Jermaine Ford welcomed Moore’s appointment.

“Commissioner Moore’s leadership and experience in planning and development are invaluable assets to the Area Commission,” he said. “His perspective and commitment will be instrumental as we continue to expand opportunities for our students and strengthen our impact in the community.”

Florence-Darlington Technical College serves thousands of students annually, offering a variety of programs of study and playing a critical role in workforce development across the region.
