Discover a Career on the Open Road
Have you ever considered life on the open road? Florence-Darlington Technical College is ready to help get you there.
The trucking industry has continued to grow over the past several years and with that growth the demand for more qualified drivers has also grown. At FDTC, our CDL students enjoy a nearly 100% employment rate, for all individuals who intend to seek employment, following completion of the course.
Let us help you gain the experience you need to be on the road with your Class A Commercial Driver’s License in just five weeks. Our program includes a combination of in-classroom and behind-the-wheel training that will prepare graduates to test for their Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
Whether driving heavy trucks or tractor trailers, truck drivers transport goods from one location to another, often across city and county lines, or between states. Punctuality and the ability to frequently travel are necessary to a successful career in the truck driving industry. Combining classroom lecture and practice driving, special emphasis will be placed on safety, making correct and safe turns, proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and training behind the wheel. Students who enroll in FDTC’s CDL Training program will gain skills in the areas of:
- Vehicle inspections
- Defensive driving
- Range maneuvers
- Motor carrier safety regulations
- Trip planning
- Cargo handling
- Size/weight laws
- General maintenance procedures
- Hours of service
- Accident prevention
